Class of 2023 Analysis (Discussion)

Look, I know that every coach has their own sleepers and their own draft board, and some may be reluctant to share their view of this draft class, but I'm not asking for who you're going to draft; I'm asking for you to share your thoughts on this draft class, and maybe a few of the top players. I'll start off by saying that I'm surprised how thin the running back and quarterback positions are for this draft. There's some talent at the latter, but there are only three that I would even consider for starters, and the third quarterback, G. Terry, really only strikes me as a transition-type quarterback. Running back is even thinner. Daniel Chang is the top rated natural runner with only a potential of 79. Ruben Lindberg, the fullback, is a 85 at RB, but his current rank is 29. Beyond Cecil Hite, there's a ton of 2nd or 3rd string runners, but few that are starter-worthy are in this class. What are your thoughts on the draft class?

Top 10 seems decent, not overly strong or weak at the end of the first round or top of the 2nd. This draft seems pretty thin on the premier positions at the top of the draft. The last 3 drafts in this league have been downright terrible to meh at best.

I took an amazing TE in the last Draft at #7 Overall in Leon Arana. Now, I don't like the Passing on this game, so I've moved him to RB. There is another TE in this Draft that I'd love to have, if only I could figure out how to get the QB to target a TE, and how that TE breaks tackles after the catch (despite a high Break Tackle, Arana doesn't break them at TE, but does a ton at RB). There is a Tier 2 QB.

3 LBs, 2 MLB and 1 SLB, look really good.

1 Franchise QB, and a Tier 2 QB... seems the only 2 worth Drafting at all.

1 Safety that was impressive.

A couple of OL that really shine.

1 CB.

So, that looks like 10 to me that seem like they will certainly have an impact, even if Two are 'Tier 2' types that clearly fall below those First 8.

Looks like 8 Plug and Play Starters are there, and the other QB and TE might be ready after a really solid Camp.

It's going to be an exciting Draft, and I'm very happy that the 1st is deep enough that I'm ensured a stud to help turn Denver around... since I don't have a 2nd this Season.

Yeah, I'm liking Schneiders (#1 Tight End, projected #7 overall) a lot. Too bad I picked up a team that did well this season, because Tennessee really is looking mediocre in some areas, plain bad in others. The former owner kept virtually everyone from two drafts, and so now my team is full of 9th and 10th years that are going to retire within a couple years. I agree with you on TEs being under-utilized, though. In another league, I have a TE (Roger Kinley is his name) who's a 99/100 4th year, and I've done TE dominant personnel formats (limiting my team to 11, 21, 22, and 12 formats) but after 2 weeks he's only at 105 yards, 1 TD. It may not help that the stated team also has the #1 WR in the league to snatch targets and a mediocre starting QB to begin with, but I still feel that Kinley should have more than 40 yards, TD and a 65 yard performance.

I'm thinking I can keep Schneiders at TE if I'm lucky enough to grab him, and then plug him at FB down the road, but I really need a good Running Back, something that is incredibly thin this draft.

I really like the depth at linebacker, like you said, because you can often shift any of the three types from their natural position to fill a need in another linebacker position on your roster.

I'm going to need three new starting offensive linemen within the next three years, a replacement for virtually all of my wide receivers (two 9th years, one 8th, one 10th), a completely new backfield ( I have a half-decent year nine, a crappy six and a crappy nine), a new FB (my starter is a 9th year), a back-up QB (my back-up is a niner as well, which isn't too bad for QB, except that he's a 55/55), and I'll need a new TE soon. I can tell that this team won with the secondary, but even then, my starting D-line has two 10th years, two 9th years, and a lackluster group of middle linebackers. I'm gonna have to go on shopping sprees within the next couple of years during free agency.

My top 5 for my team this draft have to be Velasquez (who'll be gone by the time it's my turn to draft), Schneiders, Bolden, Barrick, and Meza. Sadly, I'm unlikely to grab any of the above.

I'm at the #8 spot and will take anything that falls to me at #8.

I'm at the 5 Spot, and I am ASSURED a Defender that will make a great impact on my Defense.

The only question is... which Defender, and which Spot? LOL!

By the way, I'd give you my Starting QB Benny Worrell for your #8 Over All.

:D

I've got #1, #16, and #30 so we should really be able to add some foundational pieces to our team for many seasons to come.
I'm pumped about #1 for sure!!!

Unless targeting QB or CB... I find 1 through 3 to be of about equal value.

Not that I'd turn down the #1.

I agree and in some drafts 1-5 but #1 is still pretty sweet as there is zero guess work
