Pittsburgh improved to 6-0 on the 2073 season with a commanding 33-3 victory on the road against Houston on October 8. The win marked the Steelers' sixth straight, maintaining their hold atop the division standings.

From the opening sequence, Pittsburgh showed intent, electing to receive after winning the coin toss. The Steelers struck early in the first quarter when quarterback Joe Lockwood connected with wide receiver Timothy Baker on a 35-yard touchdown pass at 9:49. The sharp move by Baker left the Houston cornerback behind and set the tone for the contest. Michael Turner converted the extra point, pushing the lead to 7-0.

Houston struggled offensively throughout the day. Quarterback Robert Densmore completed 21 of 41 passes for 145 yards but failed to find the end zone. The Texans managed just two rushing yards on nine carries. The Pittsburgh defense registered two sacks and intercepted one pass, including a crucial interception by Ricardo Rodriguez late in the second quarter that halted Houston’s offensive momentum.

Pittsburgh’s ground game was dominant. Running back Charles Lewis carried the ball 42 times for 167 yards and added 22 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Lewis's most notable run came in the second quarter, a 32-yard touchdown burst that expanded Pittsburgh’s lead to 13-0. The Steelers also added field goals by Michael Turner in the second quarter at 5:11 and converted two successful kicks overall after missing an extra point following the second touchdown.

Additional scoring for Pittsburgh came via rushing touchdowns from wide receivers Vito Morgan, Timothy Baker, and Stacey Frick, contributing to the team’s balanced attack.

Houston's lone points were produced by a second-quarter field goal, but the Texans were otherwise shut out in the red zone and failed to convert on any third-down attempts, underscoring Pittsburgh's defensive control.

Pittsburgh's head coach Eric Hess guided the team to a well-rounded performance both offensively and defensively. Hess's squad limited Houston to only three points and forced multiple turnovers. Despite the loss, Houston’s defense showed some resistance with two sacks led by Jack Lovejoy, who also forced a fumble.

Houston remains 1-5 this season and continues a four-game losing streak, holding third place in the division. Pittsburgh’s impeccable start to the season places them firmly in contention for the top spot.

The decisive victory was highlighted by controlled drives and strong special teams play, with Stephen Mizrahi’s punting establishing advantageous field position consistently throughout the game.

Pittsburgh next hosts their division rival while Houston looks to rebound at home. The Steelers continue to demonstrate their dominance on both sides of the ball as the regular season progresses.
