People...offer me 2 1st round picks for my mid 80 players.
Crazy trade IMO
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. The last time Morbid criticized one of my trades was when I traded my 2017 1st rd draft choice to San Francisco for two of its players, a then rookie (DB) who was drafted by SF in the 5th rd and another rookie (OL) who was previously been signed by SF as a free agent. SF also threw in its 2017 3rd rd draft choice. Morbid's reaction to the trade:
"****, I need to stop cutting players and bundle them together to get 1st round picks, Thats a whole lot of nothing for something"
By the way, King of Bling added:
"No kidding, that was a lot of **** for a 1st rounder...weird that the champ would basically give away his first pick."
Among other things, this is what I said at the time:
"(T)he two players I obtained from the 49ers for my 1.32 were an undrafted rookie free agent LT whom I rated at 52/73 and a rookie FS drafted in the 5th round whom I rated 53/66. More importantly, each had bars that I would find useful for my game plan. The real risk, of course, was whether either or both the acquired players' future ratings would hold up.
Flash forward. I now have two second year players who appear to be good a fit for my roster and are potential starters. The LT is now rated a 56/74 (+4/+1) after training camp and the S is now rated a 58/69 (+5/+4) after training camp. No matter how you look at it, both are valuable to me. More important than their overall ratings, I like both players' respective bars."
Well, let's examine how that trade turned out, now that both players are in their 5th seasons.
The LT is now rated 74/76 (by my ratings) and is a part-time starter and a very reliable substitute. The S is now rated 81/84 (again, by my ratings), can play both safety positions equally well and has been a starter for the last three seasons.
By the way, how did the trade turn out for the 49ers. Well the player it selected at 1.32 was released this season and is now a free agent after making 1 tackle (and missing 2) during the last 3 seasons. It was simply bad luck.
So, I can appreciate that everyone might have an opinion about which party got the best of a trade. But to vehemently criticize a trade - as Morbid did - before seeing how it plays out just doesn't seem to make sense. (Hey, I did it once, which I regretted and for which I subsequently apologized to the GM in question.)
