Player development...

Hello folks. Question for the long time MFN folks out there.

Welp, I think I already know the answer to this one, but it's multi layered so, forgive my verbosity.

Are the numbers for attribute/skill levels in the draft determined by my staff (therefore they might be slightly different than the numbers Leo might see in Detroit) or are those actual current numbers presented in an unbiased aspect (and numbers all teams see at the time of the draft)?

Next, in the NFL you see a fair amount of talent coming out of the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds. To me, I see (judging only from the numbers I am seeing on these draft picks), that these guys have zero chance of landing on my team, really. SO... I know I have learned that players development might improve somewhat, but can the numbers in the draft be completely wrong compared to the eventual development of a player? For example, if an RB in the draft shows 19/37... Is there a CHANCE (albeit slim) that he will actually develop into a 19/77 or 39/88 by the end of training camp/first week of real action?

Finally... Repositioning... Is it more likely that a drafted C can be moved to RG/LG than that same drafted center move to, say, DB? In other words, a lot of teams in the NFL slide offensive linemen around some... Will that repositioning within a specific group of players be naturally more reasonable?

Thanks for the input... I know, long post, but I am beginning to wonder about some of these things.

I can only answer one of your questions with confidence.

"Finally... Repositioning... Is it more likely that a drafted C can be moved to RG/LG than that same drafted center move to, say, DB? Yes. When you go to the player screen and select change position, you will see what the current/max ratings would be at each position. The ratings for a C would be much better at LG than at CB.

A followup on that answer WarEagle...

So, let's say you have a C who is 44/59 and you want to move him to RG... will you POTENTIALLY see (in other words, is it POSSIBLE, however unlikely) an IMPROVEMENT in ratings, or will a repositioning always reduce overall rating numbers? Put another way, could I see a C with 44/59 get shifted to LG and see 44/71 or something along those lines or will it always bee the same or worse overall ratings to make a repositioning?

Thanks again folks...

Yes. But it probably wouldn't be that drastic.

You'll often see people draft a FB and convert them to RB, for example.

Coaching staff does not determine current/future ratings seen from my understanding. Player weights adjust what current and future ratings show up as. You set how important skills are in comparison to other skills there. Believe it is under my team section. If 7 skills are all weighted at 100 and all other skills are weighted at 0 it will only factor in those 7 skills and each of those skills will be as important as the other 6. Hope you understand what I mean. I use custom weights and often look at multiple different weights when determining draft selections.

A late pick can also improve and become one of the best rated players. If a player has a significant uptick in future ratings at TC it generally (not always) signals that the players true future rating is considerably higher than where it initially was. The player could still flatline at that rating or decrease but from what has been explained that is not overly common and players that jump big will continue to raise future ratings until slowing down at whatever their "true" future rating is at. Could be a big jump for 1 season, small jump in the second and level. Could jump big for 6 seasons and be a steal or could jump big for a season or two before slowing down and be decent.

Your coaching weight settings will change there current/future ratings. With my settings I might value a HB at an 81 but someone else who has a different weight setting might only value him at 78.
