9-0 Denver took a huge risk inserting Rookie QB Michael Abrams into the Starting Lineup in place of a slumping (yet Undefeated) Vet QB Bruce Smith.
The result was 10-0... but an ugly outing for the QB who put up the worst performance of a Denver QB this Season, and one of the worst in Owner Kell's time with the team.
Kell stated that Abrams would Start again this upcoming Week, in a game where 4 Starters and a crucial Back Up will sit to try to rest some injuries... a very dangerous move, but one that hopefully helps the Team be Healthy for the Play Offs.
When asked about the situation with Bruce Smith and Adams, Kell had the following to offer. "Abrams will be a great one, but right now it's not his time. He's in there to get some experience, but this is still Smith's Team to lead. Abrams is going to need another Camp, maybe two, before he'll be ready to be the full-time Starter. But we are at a point where we can let some Vets rest up a bit, nurse some nagging injuries, so they can finish strong and be ready for a Play Off Push."
So no one is sure how long Abrams will get to start, or how short his leash may be, but it's widely understood that at least come the Play Offs, Smith will be the QB. How much of the Season Abrams will get is unknown, will be interesting to see if they let him continue to Start until he Loses, or if there is just a Health Time Line for Smith before taking the helm again.
Denver has made the Play Offs in 2 of Kell's 3 Years as owner, but as a narrow Wild Card each time. This is the most dominant start of games in Denver History here in MFN 7, already setting the Team Record for Wins in a Season.
