A Tale of 2 QBs (okay, maybe 3).

I began my Career in Denver with a QB I was stoked about, Benny Worrell. That lasted one (4-12) Season. The honeymoon was over.

51.7%, 6.12 YPA, 6 TD to 14 INT, 1953 Passing Yards. I was done. He was gone.

And that is where this tale begins. His Back Up was one James Garrett, and late in that Draft I took one William Anderson.

Neither QB is good, but James is better at looking like he throws a football, and William is a Track Star.

Well, I went with the Track Star. And it was rough. We were 3-6 and Seattle (KOB) had just curb stomped us. On the one hand, we were 1 Win away from equaling our 4 Wins in 2022, but on the other hand my Defense was looking like it was starting to become a real thing... and no one was really shutting the door. That was a chance... the Math said I wasn't eliminated.

William Anderson had went 3-6, 111 of 245 for 45.3%, 1,360 Yards, 5.55 YPA, 6 TD, 12 INT and a lowly 50.72 Rating. He did add 6 Carries for 54 Yards, and his Legs did put us in some Win Situations... but we were failing.

Enter James Garrett. Throws 4 TD and 2 INT in our first game, vs. Cleveland. Proceeds to go on a 5-2 Run, putting us at 8-8... and into the Wild Card Slot.

Now James isn't good, but he went 120 of 200 for 60.0%, 1284 Yards, 6.42 YPA, 12 TD to 7 INT for a Rating of 84.25.

Then we managed to Win our First Play Off Game in Denver History.

I had my answer. This kid could play well enough for us to Win. He was my 2024 QB!

Until... he wasn't.

James Garrett Won on Opening Day... but come Week 5 we were a 1-4 Team. Enter William Anderson, who was benched the previous year for being 3-6... and WA goes off on Streaks of 4 Wins and 6 Wins, going 10-1 on the way to the Play Offs.

James Garrett had went 78-152 for 51.3%, 1029 Yards at 6.77 YPA, 4 TD to 9 INT for a Rating of 57.15.

William Anderson, on his 10-1 Run, went 135-237 for 57.0%, 1598 Yards at 6.74 YPA, 13 TD to 9 INT, for a Rating of 80.11.

It's amazing. Both QBs took over for the other and lead an improbable Play Off Run. Both QBs were in their Good Season an 80 Rated QB, and in their Bad Season a 50 Rated QB.

And now it's nothing but Questions for 2025.

2023 was the Year of the Garrett, 2024 was the Year of the Anderson. Both have shown an ability to take a team far behind the standings and rally them to the Play Offs (5-2 after a 3-6 Start, 10-1 after a 1-4 Start).

Both have shown an inability to start a Season off in a manner that puts Denver in Contention.

And it all started with that 3rd QB, Benny Worrell, the one that should be heads and shoulders over both of these guys... failing to get in done in Denver.

The irony in MFN is strong.
