Will sadly be out of town tomorrow so won't be checking the boards again until Sunday. Until then, a quick question.

Am I the only one noticing that many teams have no CB's but are stacked with safeties? I switched a safety over to CB just to get a second one and have been trying to dredge up a few choices for trades with other teams but see few teams with even one cornerback. I guess I was lucky to get one of the darn things in the draft.

As an aside... Can anyone tell me how MFN judges the need for draft talent in future drafts? Does it always allocate the same number of pick opportunities per position per draft (for example, are there always 20 QB's per draft, 100 offensive linemen, 40 RB's, 80 LB's, tc. to choose from) or does it take into account that there is a significant need for CB talent (in this current example) and flood the next draft with CB's? Or, is it random or some other algorithm?

I could move my safeties to CB and take a dip in future ratings but I kind of want good safeties to try and prevent big plays from being the TD variety of big plays.

The AI teams will consider secondary all together, and yes, you can generally move a safety to CB - sometimes it actually works out better, sometimes they'll take a drop, it all depends on their attributes. I always check my new DB's to make sure their assigned position really is their best position. When the game creates new players, it first chooses the position, then choosing a general composite rating, then chooses the attribute values - and sometimes the dice roll on the attribute values will end up being a better fit at another position.



Each player is created independently of each other, and the probability for the player being created at each position is based on the # of each position that is needed for each team. For example, the suggested # of QB's for each team is 2, and the suggested # of WR's is 4, so it is twice as likely that a player will be a WR than a QB when he is created. The current state of the league is not taken into consideration. The total number of players created in the draft is random with a small range. I think it's something like 13-15 players per team but don't quote me on that.

I had to move a lot of "developable" safeties to corner just because there wasn't much CB depth in the draft, but tons at safety. *shrug* it'll be alright. Remember that you can play backup safeties in your corner depth chart without changing their position as well. Usually, my 3rd S is better than like my 4th CB so he's a good plug in there.
