Trade Value Penalties

I'd like to see the trade value itself kept in the UI (even though its garbage because it uses default player weights which are also garbage), but have all trade restrictions - errrr penalties and prohibitions resulting from trade values - removed.
Thanks for the eyeballs.
..or shifty eyeballs.

Lets face it the restrictions are there to protect actual morons from being actual morons. Nothing more and nothing less.
These restrictions penalize human GMS.

"Don't care if i'm 4 pts short, i'm just not going to give more so F this trade."
I should never think that.
Let us go full Ditka if we so choose to do so!

Spaghetti:
If trade restriction continue to be a part of MFN, have such restrictions because of cap and not "trade values."
Already can not make trades because of salary cap. Code is in use. Just use the cap restriction and ditch the trade value requirements and give us (Cue Mel Gibson in Braveheart)...
FREEEEEDOM!

(cue Sister Mary Elephant)
Thank you.

while i'm at it:
why is there a t . i . t . for tat requirement?

Ive also not offered trades because I cant because of the 1 to 4 restriction.
cannot give 5 things for 1 player. It has to be 4 or less. 1/4; 2/5 etc etc.

Trades really s . u . c . k in MFN.

I think a new UI should include new trade options, new cap options, 18 week reg season, bye week, fixed playoffs, forum search fix, at the bare minimum.

As it is, it still barely fits on my phone or tablet, that menu is freaking GIGANTIC in all devices...

If the new UI is all about looks and nothing about substance then why bother overhauling it?
Still a long way from lipstick on the pig. It's still ugly.

Prolly should log off.
You all be as amazing as i think each of you can be!

There need to be trade restrictions and penalties to avoid noobies being fleeced.

"Yes, that QB with amazing ability values and a 40% chance of retiring is worth 3 1st round picks..."

Ok, but this the exact kind of trade the “trade points” system would say is a fair deal….or god forbid a 9th year lineman worth even more….

I agree the trade points values right now are defective - I suspect it goes off the default player ratings + assigned value per draft pick spot.

What would be needed is a more complicated assessment - owner X and owner Y want to trade players ( ignore draft picks to simplify example ), a straight player swap to fix holes in roster.

Owner X weights for the players need to be considered, ditto Owner Ys. The gap between the different owner valuations needs to be involved in the whole process; if an owner trades a 95 young player for a 53 young player, bad deal.

To make it more accurate than that, I think other factors need to be considered too - does a player being traded have value to the player trading them, ie a QB3 isn't as valuable as a QB1.

Problem there is noobies tend to be awful with weights meaning they get fleeced even more. Plus it'd open up an exploit of changing weights to lower values on players you want that are good and maxing the weights on your trade player.

I'm not a noob. I want no restrictions. The only reason to keep trade values would be with the idea of fixing them. Most of us know that's a BIG fix.

Perhaps give setherick a free unlimited max subscription for doing weights and keeping weights current along with JDB updating weights as Setherick updates his. Pay setherick to do the weights, mfn updates as necessary. Keep player ability to modify. Seth used to do this for free. No one works for free.

I certainly assume trade value is directly related to default weights. Heh - I could be 100% wrong on that.

As MFN currently is, there is a 30 day restriction on trading for noobs. There are vast forums and a vast majority of players willing to help. Admins can nullify a trade - tho doing so after a sim is penalizes the entire league. Noobs need to learn, admins need to be active.

If random noob can not take the time to learn about weights, values, and ask other GMs over 30 days, it's absolutely their fault if they accept or propose a bad deal.

Back to the front:
I'm not a noob. It'l take a looooong time for trade values and player weights to be updated in the UI (they currently are not).
If after 5+ years of playing MFN, I want to go full drunken Ditka (gosh he got lucky Ricky was not bosworth, but ricky was also ricky, right?) i definitely should be permitted to do so.

Just have your league admin turn off the trade limits. Outside numbered public leagues there's no requirement for trade value limitations.
