In MFN-1, I could not propose a trade with Oakland because it said that the owners have a common IP address. I understand why this is in place, but I am not the owner of both teams. I was wondering if there is anything that can be done to fix this. If not, I understand.

i think that happened not because you are the both owners of teams but both addresses come from like the same building or same office
This is an unfortunate side effect of being forced to put restrictions in place. I will say, though, that user-created leagues have the option to disable this restriction, so you might find a league that has the restriction turned off if you want to participate in a league together with the other owner.
It might not only be in the same building. A dynamically assigned IP address might be randomly assigned to another MFN player. I know HughesNet works that way; there are probably others as well.
